Alex Brown and Scott Huber Press Conference - Call for Homeless Solutions

Councilmembers Alex Brown and Scott Huber spoke on the ongoing shelter crisis, the potential impacts of the lawsuit against the city over evictions, as well as the impact of rescinding or failing to renew the Emergency Shelter Crisis Declaration.

There was a good turnout, many people were interested in hearing what they had to say and are alarmed by the ongoing evictions of the unhoused.

It may be a little hard to hear in places, someone kept setting off their car alarm and a few obnoxious people got loud and aggressive. After one was escorted away things settled down.

What we didn't get on video: After the press conference ended, some yahoo with the bullhorn arrived and started yelling at people. The best thing happened. A woman we didn’t know started singing.

The crowd gradually joined in, and a chorus of voices arose, singing “Give Peace a Chance.” No one could hear the bullhorn guy over the singing, and after a few minutes he gave up. It was really lovely.
