Chico Climate Action Plan Update needs your input

𝐀𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐩 by another devastating fire, climate change is on our minds.

Whenever we post anything about local climate action, there are always folks who pop in to say things like, "we can't do anything in Chico to change or control the climate." And of course, no, one city can't control the climate.

But there are many steps we can and should take.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 to address the root causes of the problem, and reduce our emissions to achieve carbon neutrality,

Perhaps just as importantly, we can 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 of climate change, and take concrete steps to build a more resilient community.

It's a long report, but the Climate Action Plan will shape policy in Chico for the coming decade. Your input matters. Please consider taking a few minutes to review the draft and offer comment.

The Draft Climate Action Plan Update provides a roadmap of how the City will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to a target goal that includes measures like renewable energy, urban trees, greenspace, and sustainable transportation.
