Nichole Nava: A History of Harassment of Community Members

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠? She was angered when she was observed videoing people she "hates" during the meeting, and a camera was turned back on her.

Sure, that's mildly amusing. No one was hurt, and she didn't launch the phone after all. But she has actively attempted to cause harm to many in our community, to deprive people she hates of their livelihoods, and to silence those with whom she disagrees through intimidation and harassment.

We can't possibly cover all of the harm she's perpetuated in the community here, but here's a letter to the editor that was shared with us. Ms. Nava's actions speak to her character, and character should count in elections as well as in life.

"𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚, 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥, 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡.

Chico State Professor Lindsay Briggs was an early victim. Nichole encouraged her followers to contact the university to get her fired. When that failed, she created and sold “Dismiss Briggs” merchandise.

She doxed former Councilmember Scott Huber and his wife, sharing information online about the street where he lives, and where he and his wife worked - while saying out the other side of her mouth (wink, wink), "oh, I am not advocating for anyone to contact their employers or go to their homes." But you know, here's that information for no reason at all.

Nichole doxed Kelli Johnson for aiding homeless people, then called Kelli’s employer numerous times as well as filed complaints with the Bar urging them to revoke her license to practice law. She posted Kelli’s employer’s contact information and her Bar number, urging her followers to complain.

Nichole initiated a campaign to cancel a local band’s shows because she disliked one of their musicians, Harrison Pratt, again, because he helped homeless people. She and her followers called the venue and trolled the event page, demanding they cancel the show.

But perhaps her most horrifying action was mocking a vigil for a homeless man who was murdered, posting laughing emojis online and calling it an “Enabler’s protest.”

There are many others she has bullied, but the limit is 250 words here. 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞, “𝐀 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬; 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐭.” 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬.

Don’t be fooled by her attempts to rehabilitate her image - Ms. Nava is unfit to serve the public in any capacity."

We agree. Nava is #UnfitToServe
