What your donations accomplish

We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have donated to Stand Up for Chico, whether it’s a recurring donation or just one time. We quite literally couldn’t do this work without you.
Stand Up for Chico is entirely volunteer run, and no one who contributes time or work is paid. We rely on donations to cover basic recurring expenses, like hosting the website and sending out newsletters.

But those things only account for about 10% of what we use your donations for.
In the past couple of months, some of the initiatives you have funded include:

☑️ Sponsoring the Butte Environmental Council Bidwell Park and Chico Creeks Cleanup (We also had a team working on the cleanup)
☑️ Contributed directly to fundraisers/volunteer opportunities for local orgs that were struggling and in need of help

We have also run a series of ads to build public awareness on:

☑️ The formation of the Tuscan Water District and concerns about the privatization of our shared aquifer
☑️ The ways people can participate directly in local democracy, including how to attend and speak at County Supervisors and Chico City Council Meetings, as well as other ways to contact their representatives about issues that are important to them
☑️ How people can access COVID-19 renter and landlord assistance funds
☑️ Food insecurity in the North State, for both housed and unhoused folks
☑️ Public awareness for organizations and individuals who are working to address problems in the community
☑️ Injustice in our community, including the lack of transparency from DA Mike Ramsey and Chico PD regarding the killings of Desmond Phillips and Tyler Rushing
☑️ The abject failure of City Council leadership and the impacts on the community

As we move closer to next years elections, we will also spend money to ensure support for candidates that reflect our shared values and support positive change.
