Chico makes national news again...this time for a positive response to hate

If you’ve been following along on social media or local print and television outlets you already know about the owners of Gelayo being harassed and attacked by a group of teenagers using racial slurs. You may also have heard about the Fundraiser organized by Aveed Khaki, local business owner and occasional raconteur. After hearing about the attack on social media, he organized a fundraiser that brought in over $13,000 to create a tab for people to go in and have a frozen yogurt.

After all the bad news, it was fantastic to see the community brought together for a common cause, and we finally made the national for the right reason. Well, the wrong reason, and then the right reason. Read all about it here.

And yes, it took some community pressure but it appears Chico PD is working on finding the perpetrators.
