Murder at Teichert Pond

We continue to await any comment at all from Chico PD regarding the shooting of two people, one of whom died, at the Teichert Ponds camp. Witnesses have reported it was a group of young men who harassed people there before shooting them.

Chico PD and Chico City Leaders, including Mayor Andrew Coolidge have remained silent about this, despite the fact that there appear to be 4 people who are armed, dangerous, and an ongoing threat to the community. Even worse than the silence is the fact that Councilmember Sean Morgan may have incited further violence, going on the radio last week to compare the homeless plaintiffs of the lawsuit again the city to hostage takers and terrorists. In fact, in the wake of this murder, the only councilmember who has spoken out to condemn it or to talk about the ugly rhetoric that may have led to the killing is Alex Brown.

What is Chico PD doing to apprehend the murderers at large in our community, murderers who appear to have killed people who were helpless to defend themselves, for sport? How many more deaths will it take for city "leadership" to step up?

"According to witnesses, the murder at Teichert Pond was committed by a group of young men who came specifically to harass

"Judging by online responses by members of several local public safety-oriented social media groups, many people jumped to the conclusion that the Teichert Ponds shooting was an incident of homeless-on-homeless violence, as was the case with the Aug. 1 fatal stabbing of John Snoberger, 46, by Jedidiah Wright, 29, near Comanche Creek, site of Chico’s largest homeless encampment.

However, word that the crime was allegedly perpetrated by a group of juveniles began to spread outside of the unhoused community Sunday afternoon."
