California requires all local governments to plan to meet the housing needs of ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ๐จ๐ง๐ž in the community.

Chico meets this requirement by adopting 'Housing Elements' as part of the city General Plan. The General Plan serves as the local governmentโ€™s "blueprint" for how the city will grow and develop over a 15-20 year period, and the Housing Element won't be updated again for another decade or so.
